Finnstown House Wedding Story

My day at Finnstown House Wedding in Adamstown started with the bride in the bridal suite. The girls had already prepared hair and makeup so were just about ready to get dressed for the big occasion. I grabbed a few shots of the dress, flowers and shoes. The room had a lovely ambience so getting great looking shots were a breeze. Narkes (the bride) is from Kazakhstan and her parents didn’t speak a word of english, but the warmth and generosity displayed was really touching and made me feel like one of the family. I got a photo of Narkes in the small conservatory with her parents on either side just in the doorway. It’s a favourite of mine to use people as frames in my photos, it just adds another dimension to an image.

The ceremony took place in the ceremony room on the far end of the venue, I find with many Dublin weddings these days, many couples are opting for a civil ceremony at the venue, this takes much of the stress of hiring limos and getting from one place to the next, especially on a Friday rush hour traffic. I am also able to spend more time catching the natural interactions between guests on the day.

A drinks reception kept guests busy while we headed off to do some photos of the bridal party in the lovely grounds on the estate. I usually bring along off camera flash with me, which helped with the low light of the short winter days. Quick and easy to setup, but photo quality is second to none by just lighting my subjects just that little bit more.

I photographed the first few dances and headed home.
