Borris House Wedding Story

Wedding Preparations at Borris House

The Borris House Wedding in Co. Carlow started for me with everyone getting ready for the big day ahead.
2 big families were coming together for the joining of Aisling & Darren – The Irish and the Scottish. If you’re looking for a fun event, this is a great mix!! Loads of laughs.

Lovely blues skies above was a great sign for the day. This was ideal, since there were a few surprises the families had planned for the couple, which relied on great weather.
After capturing the fun and frolics at the preparations I made my way to the church.

Borris House Wedding Ceremony

The Sacred Heart Church was in Borris village, only a short drive away. Guests were already gathering outside, dressed up in their finest. The Bagpiper, Sean Kelly readying himself for Aisling’s arrival.
Their ceremony was lovely with a well-lit interior of the church giving me plenty to work with. I moved around quietly trying to capture the events as they happened without being creating any distraction.
Once it was over, we made our way outside where the surprise Ice Cream van was waiting to serve fresh ice cream to the eager families.

Wedding Reception

Back at the Reception venue, the couple decided to get family group portraits out the way, so everyone could go back and enjoy the drink reception. We wrapped up with their photo session and a large group photo of all the gents in their kilts in front of the gorgeous backdrop of Borris House.

The meal started with speeches and later moved on to the cake cutting and a fire lantern ceremony, lighting up the skies with sparklers and lanterns. It really was a lovely site to behold and a great idea for a bit of entertainment.
Festivities went on well into the night with the band teaching everyone Irish Ceili Dance steps.
