Powerscourt Hotel Wedding Story

Our day started off with a cracking autumn’s day in Wicklow, the garden county of Ireland. This was going to be a lovely wedding!

The first thing that hits you when you enter the Hotel in Powerscourt is the space and luxurious atmosphere the hotel manages to capture and being the Christmas season everything is lit up in warmth and wrapped in coziness.

Preparations

We made our way up to the bridal suite to catch up with Niamh for the preparation photos. Our job was made really easy by the relaxed atmosphere and the lovely beaming light filling the room. After catching a few detail photos of the dress, shoes and flowers it gave space for Niamh and the bridesmaid to get ready, allowing us to capture some lovely spontaneous photos and video clips.

Ceremony

The church was a few minutes up the road from the hotel, set in the foothills of the Wicklow mountains, with a lovely view of Sugar loaf mountain in the distance. Jamie, the groom was welcoming guests as we arrived, giving us just enough time to grab a few shots and get ourselves ready for the bride’s arrival.

The ceremony was a fun filled event. There is a handful of priests in Ireland that truly know the meaning creating a moment for couples weddings, filled with heartwarming sentiments, belly aching laughter and heartfelt compassion. Their wedding had all of this and more.

Photo Session

With the wedding being this late in the year, the timing was crucial to get back to the hotel in time for photos before the sun went down too much. We were given access to the Powerscourt gardens for a few photos with a Sugarloaf mountain backdrop.

The rest of the photos were done back at the hotel, as the ground offer a huge variety of spots for some lovely photos. We used the long driveway leading up to the hotel for a few photos, using the autumn foliage and lovely blue skies.

Reception

Dinner was to start 5:30 pm, so I wrapped up all the family shots and couple photos so there was no delay to getting the hungry guests to their dinner on time.

All the guests had signed the signature board so I collected that on the way out and left Paul from Crystal clear video to continue filming till the first dance.
