Trudder Lodge Wedding Story

Preparations

The morning started at Niamh’s parent beautiful home in the Wicklow hills with David Gray album on in the background, the vibe was perfect. The first thing that struck me was that photography is very important to the family. The walls were adorned with beautiful photos of holidays and the various family members at different times of their lives. This was somewhere I could feel right at home.

There was no shortage of places I could hang the wedding dress for photos, so I ended up using 2 locations for it, I loved both, giving a completely different look to each.

Niamh bought her dress at a bridal boutique is Gorey, co. Wexford but her sister Sarah (the designer in the family) added some fabrics and make it even more special, which can sometimes be a gamble, but this time it paid off nicely.

Niamh was helped into her dress by mom and Sarah in the upstairs room which had lovely side lighting, perfect to show up the lace details in the dress.

I had just enough time to catch a few shots of Niamh making her way down the staircase to see her dad waiting (a bit choked up) in the hallway before making my way to the Church in Newcastle.

Ceremony

Most of the guests had arrived when I got there, so all that was needed was a few shots of Ross and his best man’s, Simon before the bride arrived.

Newcastle church is a lovely church with an abundance of natural light, allowing me to take my photos discretely without flash and disrupting the ceremony, this is becoming more and more important to many clients.

Reception

The ceremony was short and sweet with a special performance from the surprise children’s choir upon their exit. The couple with their guests to get over to Trudder lodge for the reception.

Outside tables were set up with cocktails and drinks of all sorts, much to the delight of the guests.

Trudder is a fairly new venue for weddings, but they certainly are making a huge impression on all that visit there. It has a quiet, relaxed and very private feel about the place, which is certainly why it is fast becoming a popular venue.

We managed to get all the photos of the newlyweds first, which is always handy to have those in the bag before moving on to groups, especially when you have a woman netball team on your hands with a crazy look in their eye, ready for mischief :)
