Malahide Wedding Story

2018 Summer in Ireland can be summed up in one word: Epic.

This brought about some of the nicest weddings I have photographed consistently in years. Gorgeous sunny weather was pretty much the theme to most of the weddings. When Vicky & Feargal tied the knot we were again gifted some rays as a backdrop to their Malahide Wedding.

Preparations

I started my day over at their family home to capture details and a few readying shots. Spirits were high and everyone was friendly and welcoming, I really do love my job and the people I get to meet along the way.

Once I had all the shots in the bag, I made my way to St Mary’s Church where the guests were starting to filter in.

Ceremony

The intimate ceremony was beautiful. As with many Church of Ireland churches the pews face inward which makes for some really nice compositions in my opinion as it changes when taking photos from different angles within the church. With vows exchanged it was time to get outside and enjoy that glorious sunshine.

Photos at Malahide Castle

Once all the guests congratulated the newly weds and a few chats we got the family and groups photos done with the church as a nice backdrop. Afterwards we made our way with the bridal party to Malahide Castle for the photo session. I love taking photos there as it offers a nice backdrop with character, lots of lovely greenery and a castle that has been preserved beautifully.

Dinner

The dinner was hosted at Nautilus Restaurant in Malahide town, near the marina. We had a bit of time before they would sit down for dinner, so I grabbed a few detail shots of the cake and table settings along with a few photos of the guests mingling & some impromptu groups.

Once dinner was called we had a few moments for the couple to enjoy some time away from their guests while everyone was getting seated and drinks orders. I noticed the jetty outside was a perfect spot for the last couple of photos before I was to head off.
